Devas wanted to worship Lord Shiva before the amritham consumption -Because the lord consumed the poison came out Of the ocean Of milk. Lord Shiva appeared from the pot of Amritham as swayambulingam. Lord Vishnu wanted to have darshan of the mother goddess too. He removed his ornaments and started to do penance. Mother goddess appeared from the ornaments and graced.  Devas consumed the Amritham after worshipping Amrithakadeshwar and Mother Ambika.

There is a separate sannidhi for Kalasamhara Murthy with Mother Balambigai .lt is believed that the lord appeared from the lingam Markandeya hugged tightly for rescue from Yama-Mother Abirami also graces here in a separate sannidhi.
