Arulmigu Subramaniya Swamy Temple - Engan

The vigraham (Idol) of Lord Muruga was very beautifully sculptured by a sculptor at sikkal. The king ordered to cut the thumb finger of the sculptor for not making an Idol more beautiful than Sikkal Murugan. At Ettukudi, the same sculptor made another Idol which is more beautiful. So, the king ordered him to make the sculptor's eyes blind. But the sculptor had to make one at the place called Engan. He approached a woman to help him. By mistake the instrument hurted the woman's hand and there was a pool of blood. The blood splashed on the sculptor's eyes and he got his vision back.
