Pranavaradheshwarar Temple - Thirumangalakkudiis a sacred Shiva temple near Kumbakonam, renowned for granting long life to husbands and blessings for married women (Sumangali Bhagyam).

During the reign of the First Kulothunga Cholan, one of his ministers constructed a temple for Lord Pranavaradheshwarar using government revenue. When the king learned of this, he ordered the minister to be beheaded.

After the execution, the minister’s devoted wife prayed intensely to Mother Mangalambigai, surrendering at Her divine feet and pleading for her husband’s life. By the boundless grace of the Goddess, when the minister’s body was brought to Thirumangalakkudi, he miraculously came back to life.

Because Mother Mangalambigai restored life and protected marital sanctity, she is worshipped here as a powerful deity for husband’s longevity and family welfare.

This sacred place is also associated with the worship of Lord Shiva by Brahma, Goddess Kali, and Surya Bhagavan. It is believed that the curses of the Navagrahas were removed at this temple, making it highly powerful for planetary relief and auspiciousness.
