Srinivasa Perumal Temple - Nachiarkoil, is a sacred temple where Goddess Lakshmi (Nachiyar) is given the highest importance. Devotees visit this temple seeking blessings for a harmonious life, marriage, and prosperity.

This temple carries a beautiful message — when devotion is pure, even the Divine comes seeking you.

Long ago, Maharishi Medhavi wished to have Mahalakshmi herself as his daughter. With deep devotion and intense penance, he prayed to the Divine Mother.

Pleased with his prayers, Mahalakshmi appeared as a small child beneath a sacred Vanjula tree. The sage joyfully brought her to his ashram and raised her with love and devotion. As years passed, the divine child grew into a graceful young woman.

When the time arrived for her divine marriage, Lord Vishnu came to the sage’s ashram in five sacred forms:

• Vasudevan
• Sankarshanan
• Pradhyumnan
• Anirudhan
• Purushothaman

They appeared as simple guests. Maharishi Medhavi welcomed them warmly and served them food with great respect.

After finishing the meal, the guests went to wash their hands. At that moment, Vasudeva gently held the hand of Lakshmi. Shocked by the sudden act, she called out to the sage.

When Maharishi Medhavi came running, the five guests had vanished.

In their place appeared Lord Vishnu in His divine form, blessing the sage with His presence.

The Lord explained that He had come to fulfill the Maharishi’s penance by marrying Lakshmi.

But the sage placed three conditions before accepting the divine marriage:

• Goddess Lakshmi must always be given first importance.
• The sage should attain Vaikuntam (the divine abode of Vishnu).
• The people of the village should receive Moksha.

Lord Vishnu happily accepted these conditions and married Lakshmi at this sacred place.

Because Lakshmi receives the foremost honor here, the temple became known as Nachiarkoil — the temple where the Goddess leads.
