Valvil Raman Temple -Thinrvelliyangudi is a revered Rama temple near Kumbakonam, known for alleviating Pithru Dosha and offering divine blessings for ancestors.

During the epic Ramayana, when Ravana kidnapped Seetha and carried her to Sri Lanka, Jatayu, the king of birds, valiantly fought Ravana. Ravana, being immensely powerful, cut both wings of Jatayu, leaving him in a dying state as he chanted the holy Rama Namam.

Lord Rama and Lakshmana, searching for Seetha, came across the injured Jatayu. The noble bird breathed his last after informing them about Seetha’s abduction. Rama desired to perform the last rites for Jatayu, which required the presence of a wife. Since Seetha was absent, Rama prayed wholeheartedly, and Bhoomadevi—an incarnation of Lakshmi—appeared to participate in the rites.
